God of War Live-Action Show Release Date Update

A recent report from Nexus Point News reveals that filming for the Amazon Prime Video show is scheduled to kick off in March 2026, in Vancouver. Although casting is still happening behind the scenes, it won’t be long before we discover which actors will bring our beloved characters to life.

The road to getting God of War’s live-action series rolling has had its twists and turns. Originally announced in 2022, the series had Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby working on the scripts, with Rafe Judkins onboard as the showrunner. However, in 2024, news broke that all three creators had departed the project due to disagreements over the show’s direction between Sony and Amazon.

Thankfully, experienced creator Ronald D. Moore has stepped in to fill those shoes, taking over as the series’ lead writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Moore comes with an impressive background in sci-fi, having worked on iconic shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Voyager. He is the mastermind behind shows like Battlestar Galactica, Outlander, and Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams.
