Star-studded tribute to honor Ozzy Osbourne at MTV VMAs

A star-studded lineup of musicians is gearing up to honor Ozzy Osbourne this Sunday at the MTV Video Music Awards. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, along with Yungblud and Nuno Bettencourt, will come together to pay tribute to the iconic “Prince of Darkness” with a medley of his greatest hits during the ceremony.

Osbourne, who passed away on July 22 at the age of 76, had a death certificate that listed cardiac arrest and coronary artery disease as the main causes, with Parkinson’s disease as a contributing factor. Just weeks before his death, Yungblud, Tyler, and Bettencourt performed alongside Osbourne in his Back to the Beginning concert.

“I’ll try my best to do you proud Oz,” shared Yungblud on social media. “Tune in from up there. I love you forever.”

With over 120 million albums sold worldwide, Ozzy Osbourne made his mark as the frontman of Black Sabbath and went on to have a successful solo career. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice, once with Sabbath in 2006 and again in 2024 as a solo artist. A feature-length documentary, “Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now,” will premiere on Paramount+ later this year.

The 2025 MTV VMAs, hosted by LL Cool J, will be live on CBS, MTV, and Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET from New York’s UBS Arena. Paramount+ subscribers with a Premium subscription can stream the show live, while Essential subscribers can watch it the day after. Leading the nominations this year are Lady Gaga with 12, followed closely by Bruno Mars, who earned 11 nominations, and Kendrick Lamar, who received 10. Special honorees include Mariah Carey, Ricky Martin, and Busta Rhymes.
