Apple TV+ Price Increase: What You Need to Know

Apple has decided to increase the price of its streaming service, Apple TV+, in an effort to get a bigger slice of the streaming market. For U.S. subscribers, the price will go up by about 30% to $12.99 a month from the current $9.99 a month, as reported by Variety. The price hike will also be implemented in some international markets, starting Aug. 21 for new customers. Existing customers will see the new price within 30 days of their next renewal date.

The yearly subscription rate of $99.99 remains the same, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The price of the Apple One bundle, which starts at $19.95 a month, also remains unchanged. Apple highlighted the fact that it offers TV shows and movies without any ads and mentioned that it is the only major streaming service without a cheaper, ad-supported plan.

Some of the exclusive shows available on Apple TV+ include “The Morning Show,” “Severance,” and “The Studio.” Additionally, viewers can enjoy Peanuts shows, “Friday Night Baseball,” and Major League Soccer games on the platform. However, Apple will not be renewing its MLB baseball deal, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Fans of “Ted Lasso” will be pleased to know that the hit series is in production for season four.

The last price increase for Apple TV+ subscribers occurred in October 2023, when it went up to $9.99 from $6.99. At its launch in 2019, the service was priced at $4.99 a month.
