Kevin attempts to escape as Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper wrangles pet peacock
An escaped peacock named Kevin found its way onto the property of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Lisbon Post on July 10. Trooper Derek G. Basinger stepped in to help, keeping the bird contained until dispatchers could reach out to the owner. Kevin, who had been missing for over two weeks, seemed determined to give everyone a run for their money, attempting to flee while waiting for the owner to arrive.
However, with some quick thinking and a little bit of food, the owner was able to coax Kevin back home. Trooper Basinger’s body camera footage captured the heartwarming moment as Kevin was finally reunited with his family. It’s always a relief when a beloved pet makes its way back home safely, and this story is no exception. Kudos to Trooper Basinger for going above and beyond to ensure Kevin’s safe return.
