Pune Forest Department Seizes 500 Kg of Illegal Peacock Feathers

The Forest Department recently made a significant breakthrough in cracking down on the illegal trade of peacock plumes. In a successful operation, they were able to seize 500 kg of quills and arrested 11 individuals involved in this illicit activity.

Peacocks are protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, making it illegal to possess or trade their feathers. Despite this, the demand for peacock plumes continues to drive poaching and smuggling activities.

The Forest Department’s efforts in busting this illegal trade are commendable, as it sends a strong message that such activities will not be tolerated. By enforcing the law and holding perpetrators accountable, they are working towards the conservation and protection of these majestic birds.

It is important for the public to be aware of the laws protecting wildlife and to report any suspicious activities related to poaching and illegal trading. Together, we can help ensure the safety and well-being of our precious wildlife.
