Bill Belichick’s Emotional Encounter with Stephon Gilmore in Front of Patriots Team

Bill Belichick, known for his tough coaching style, once made former Patriots star Stephon Gilmore nearly shed a tear in front of the team. Gilmore, who joined the Patriots in 2017, shared a memorable story on The Money Down Podcast about Belichick’s intense criticism during a team meeting.

According to Gilmore, Belichick called him out after a play where he got picked while defending a receiver. The cornerback said, “I almost cried, how he did me. I ain’t going to lie to you. I went to the bathroom, like man, bro. I can tell you one thing: I ain’t never got picked again after that.”

Despite the tough love from Belichick, Gilmore went on to have a successful career with the Patriots, earning multiple Pro Bowl selections, an All-Pro team nod, and the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2019. He was also part of the Patriots team that won the Super Bowl in 2018.

While Gilmore has since moved on to the Vikings, he has expressed his desire to continue playing in the NFL. He emphasized the importance of finding the right fit and situation for his next team, stating, “I wanna play this year. It’s just gotta be the right situation…I’m not just going to sign anywhere, it gotta be the right situation.”

Despite the challenging experience with Belichick, Gilmore has always spoken highly of him, calling him the “greatest” coach he has ever been around. He even defended Belichick against criticisms in a docuseries, emphasizing the coach’s coaching prowess and adaptability.

As Gilmore navigates NFL free agency, he remains optimistic about finding the right team for the upcoming season, highlighting his love for the game and his readiness to contribute in the right environment.
