First up, we have “The Old Guard 2” on Netflix. This action-packed sequel has finally arrived to give us more of that high-octane thrill we loved in the original film. In our previous review of “The Old Guard,” we highlighted its unique premise about immortal warriors protecting the world for centuries. While some critics did not find the transition to TV seamless, Charlize Theron’s exceptional performance saved the day. Now, she’s back for the sequel, gearing up to battle a new mysterious threat. “Sinners” is another must-watch movie now streaming on Max. Unfortunately for UK fans, you may have to wait a bit longer for its release. With a whopping 97% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes, this film has gained worldwide acclaim from both critics and everyday viewers. Created by Ryan Coogler, known for his work on the “Black Panther” movies, this supernatural horror period piece follows twin criminal twin brothers (both portrayed by Michael B. Jordan) as they encounter a supernatural evil in their hometown. Definitely a top contender for horror movie of the year! – Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer
On Prime Video, you can catch “Heads of State,” a unique film starring Idris Elba as the UK Prime Minister and John Cena as the US President. When Air Force One is shot down in enemy territory, these two leaders must put aside their differences and work together. Given Amazon’s previous Prime Video Movie Originals, expectations may not be soaring high for this one, but the premise promises an intriguing ride. So, if you’re looking for a different take on political drama, this might just be the movie for you.
