Funeral Procession of Boro Legend Alan Peacock at Riverside Stadium

Teesside lost a football legend over the weekend as Alan Peacock passed away at the age of 87 with his family by his side. The proud Teessider, diagnosed with dementia in 2018, had a storied career with Middlesbrough, scoring 141 goals in 238 games. After retiring at the age of 30 due to a knee injury, he returned to his hometown and ran a newsagents in Ormesby.

To honor his memory, the funeral procession for Alan Peacock will be held at The Riverside Stadium on July 28, starting at around 11 am. Following the procession, a celebration of his life will take place at St Botolph’s Church, Carlton in Cleveland at 1.30pm, which is open to friends, family, and fans who wish to pay their respects.

In 1954, Peacock joined Middlesbrough and quickly became a key player, earning six caps for England while playing in the Second Division. He later joined Leeds United, helping them secure promotion to the First Division and scoring 30 goals in 65 appearances. Despite a short spell at Plymouth Argyle in 1967, a knee injury ultimately led to his premature retirement from the game.

The football community has been quick to pay tribute to Peacock’s legacy, with Middlesbrough FC expressing their sadness at the loss of a true club legend. As fans and friends come together to remember his contributions, Peacock’s impact on Teesside and English football will always be remembered.
