Billy Bob Thornton Teases ‘Landman’ Season 2 News

“We knew it was going to be successful — we didn’t know it was going to be this successful,” shares Billy Bob Thornton about his Paramount+ series Landman. Created by Taylor Sheridan, the show made a big splash, ranking in the top 10 of original streaming series in the fourth quarter of 2024. It was Paramount+’s biggest premiere in two years and continued to build momentum until its finale in January.

“It’s amazing, we’re so proud,” Thornton expressed to The Hollywood Reporter at an Emmy FYC event for the show. “We love the people we work with and so we’re proud for everybody involved.”

The series, which is set in the world of the Texas oil business, was promptly renewed for a second season. Filming started in April and Thornton expects everything to be wrapped up by August. When asked about what to expect in season two, Thornton shared, “I loved it. Taylor knows this show very well, he’s got a vision for it so it’s pretty easy. I didn’t expect to read it and go, ‘Wait a minute, hang on here.’ It was great.”

In season two, viewers can look forward to Sam Elliot joining as a series regular. Thornton added, “It’s been awesome, I’ve known Sam since the ’80s so he and I go way back.” Additionally, Andy Garcia will be returning to reprise his character.
