Watch Rust on Prime Video: How to Stream Alec Baldwin’s Controversial Film

Alec Baldwin’s controversial movie, Rust, is now available for streaming, giving viewers the chance to watch the Western from the comfort of their own homes. The film follows Alec as a reclusive outlaw who emerges from hiding to help his 13-year-old grandson, who is in trouble with the law after accidentally causing a death.

While Rust is also playing in select theaters, those who prefer to watch from home can rent or purchase the movie on video-on-demand platforms like Prime Video. Renting the film will cost $6.99, while purchasing it will set you back $14.99. Renters have 30 days to start watching and 48 hours to finish once they hit play, while purchasers have unlimited access.

Following a disappointing Box Office opening, with just $217 earned per theater, the release of Rust has sparked controversy due to the tragic on-set death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. During filming in October 2021, Alec accidentally fired a prop gun loaded with a live round, resulting in Halyna’s untimely passing. While Alec initially faced charges of accidental manslaughter, these were later dropped due to insufficient evidence, with the film’s armourer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, receiving an 18-month jail term this year.

Despite its critics, including social media users who have condemned the film’s release as exploitative, Rust’s completion was made possible through a legal agreement with Halyna’s widower, Matthew Hutchins, who is credited as an executive producer. Proceeds from the movie will go towards supporting their son, Andros Hutchins, ensuring that some good can come out of this tragic situation.
