PM Modi Gifts Brass Dokra Peacock Themed Boat and Silver-Gold Cufflinks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Bangkok, where he presented beautiful gifts that highlighted the artistry of Indian handicrafts. One of the gifts was a Dokra Brass Peacock Boat with a Tribal Rider, which he gave to the Thailand Prime Minister. This stunning piece is a traditional example of Indian metal craft from Chhattisgarh, made using the ancient lost-wax casting technique. Each piece is handcrafted and unique, featuring intricate patterns and colorful lacquer inlays. The sculpture symbolizes grace and cultural imagination, with a tribal rider rowing peacefully, representing the harmony between humans and nature—a central theme in Dokra art.

Crafted in brass, the piece develops a rich patina over time, adding to its antique charm. Beyond its decorative appeal, this artifact preserves India’s tribal heritage, embodying simplicity, creativity, and a deep connection to nature. For the Thailand Prime Minister’s spouse, PM Modi gifted Gold-Plated Tiger Motif Cufflinks with Pearls, blending tradition, artistry, and modern sophistication. These cufflinks feature Meenakari work, a heritage craft from Rajasthan and Gujarat, adding vibrant enamel detailing that reflects India’s rich jewelry traditions.

The cufflinks symbolize courage, leadership, and royalty with their majestic tiger face design. A pearl bead border softens the bold design, creating a balance of strength and elegance. Crafted in high-quality silver with gold plating, these cufflinks feature a bullet-back closure for durability and ease of wear. More than just accessories, they are wearable pieces of heritage.

During his time in Bangkok, PM Modi participated in the BIMSTEC Summit and welcomed the adoption of the BIMSTEC Bangkok Vision 2030 and the BIMSTEC Maritime Transport Agreement. He expressed India’s commitment to enhancing cooperation across diverse sectors in the BIMSTEC region. Additionally, PM Modi held meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the summit, including Bhutan’s PM Tshering Tobgay, Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, and Nepal’s PM KP Sharma Oli.
