Indiana Women’s Basketball Big Ten Tournament: Seed, Schedule, Bracket Update

Indiana women’s basketball has secured the No. 9 seed in the Big Ten Tournament following a strong regular season finish, with a significant 77-57 victory over Purdue. The Hoosiers, with a record of 18-11 overall and 10-8 in the Big Ten, are set to face off against No. 8 seed Oregon in the second round at Gainbridge Fieldhouse this Thursday. The winner of this matchup will advance to the quarterfinals to go up against No. 1 seed USC the next day.

While Indiana and Oregon both ended the season with identical 10-8 conference records, the Ducks held the tiebreaker due to their previous 54-47 win over the Hoosiers on January 24 in Eugene. This season marks Indiana’s lowest seed since 2019 and the first time since 2022 that they didn’t secure a double bye as one of the top four seeds in the tournament.

Indiana women’s basketball hasn’t clinched a Big Ten tournament title since their victory over Penn State at the Conseco Fieldhouse in 2002. They had a successful run in 2022, making it to the tournament finals after winning the regular season title, but were defeated by Iowa in the championship game.

The upcoming tournament kicks off on Wednesday, March 5, with the opening rounds broadcast on Peacock. The Big Ten Network will air the remainder of the tournament until the final match on Sunday, which will be televised by CBS. Indiana’s hope is to gain momentum and showcase their best basketball skills as they navigate through the tournament.
