Hulu Technical Issues Hinder Oscars Streaming Debut for Viewers

Hulu users were left frustrated during the Oscars when technical glitches prevented them from tuning in to the award show’s streaming debut. More than 33,000 users experienced issues logging into Hulu as the telecast began, causing them to miss out on opening performances and key moments of the show. Some users even had their streams abruptly cut off just before the final award of the evening was announced.

The streaming mishaps affected the viewing experience for many fans, who were eager to watch Conan O’Brien’s comedic antics and performances by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Additionally, viewers missed out on the historic win of “Anora” for best picture and four Oscar wins for its director and screenwriter, Sean Baker.

Disney, the owner of Hulu, issued an apology for the technical difficulties and offered a full replay of the event on both Hulu and Hulu on Disney+. While most users who logged in before the start time had a smooth viewing experience, a second glitch occurred later in the evening due to a scheduling system issue as the show ran longer than expected.

Despite the explanations and apologies from Disney, frustrated fans took to social media to express their disappointment with the outages during a high-profile live event. Hopefully, future streaming events will have smoother experiences for viewers to enjoy without interruption.
