Top 5 Low-Rated Movies on Netflix and Prime Video
: Angel Gracia Where to watch: Netflix (US, UK and AU)It seems like we’ve taken a time machine back to 2011 with From Prada to Nada, a movie that seems to have missed the mark with critics, boasting a meager 24% on Rotten Tomatoes. Starring Camilla Belle and Alexa Vega, the film follows two spoiled sisters who are left penniless after the sudden death of their father. Forced to move in with their estranged aunt in East Los Angeles, they must adjust to a life that is far removed from their previous luxurious existence. From the trailer alone, it’s clear that this movie leans heavily into stereotypes and cliches, failing to bring anything new to the table in terms of storytelling or representation. With a lackluster rating and a tired plot, this is one movie that you can probably skip this month and not miss out on much. The Hookup (2025)
If The Hookup’s title sounds like an early 2010s MTV show that you’re embarrassed to say you watched, that’s probably because it’s reminiscent of that exact vibe. With a 44% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the new Netflix movie follows Sabrina (Sophie Turner) who, after a humiliating breakup on live TV, hunts for a new love interest in the world’s most popular dating app. Desperate to prove to her ex that she has moved on, Sabrina enters into a series of disastrous encounters that ultimately lead her back to where she started. If you’re a fan of cringeworthy romcoms or enjoy watching the trainwreck that is dating in the digital age, this movie might offer some entertainment value. However, if you’re like me and prefer a bit more substance and originality in your movie choices, this is one that you might want to skip over. The Warthog (2025)
The Warthog on Prime Video has made its way into the top five movies with a low score on Rotten Tomatoes already. With a chilling 48% score, this fantasy thriller is definitely not one that I’ll be pressing play on. Starring Mark Wahlberg as a retired detective investigating a series of gruesome murders in a small town, The Warthog tries to tread the line between mystery and horror, but ultimately falls flat in both aspects.Even though I’m a fan of a good thriller, this one seems to miss the mark, with a predictable plot and lackluster execution. If you’re a die-hard Wahlberg fan or enjoy watching less-than-stellar thrillers, then maybe this is the movie for you. But if you’re looking for something truly gripping and engaging, you might want to steer clear of The Warthog.
