Xbox Insiders gain access to cloud streaming for select owned games on consoles

Great news for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers! Microsoft has rolled out a new feature that allows users to stream a selection of their owned games directly to their Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One consoles without the hassle of installing them first. This feature is currently available to Xbox Insiders, with plans to launch it for all users at a later date.

This streaming capability for owned games has been in the works since 2019 and was initially expected to launch in 2020. After a few delays, it finally arrived in November this year, allowing Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream their owned games on various platforms. While it was initially limited to TVs and supported devices like smartphones and tablets, Microsoft has now brought it to Xbox consoles much sooner than anticipated.

If you’re an Xbox Insider in the Alpha Skip-Ahead or Alpha rings and have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you can start streaming your owned games today on your Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One consoles. Simply navigate to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games on your console, look for the cloud badge on compatible games, select a game, and choose ‘Play with Cloud Gaming’.

Currently, there are around 50 supported titles available for streaming, including popular games like Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Star Wars Outlaws, and others. The list is expected to grow over time, as Microsoft continues to work with partners worldwide to expand the library of cloud-playable titles.
