Winter Festivals: Your Guide to the Best Arts Events

Atlanta Chinese Dance Company is hosting a “Lunar New Year Celebration” at Lawrenceville Art Center, and it’s part of the Winter Festivals Arts Agenda. This weekly list recommended by ArtsATL covers shows, exhibitions, concerts, and events in the Atlanta arts and culture scene.

Starting on December 14th, you can join Canaan Marshall for a wreath making workshop in Buckhead Village. Canaan Marshall, known for his work on HBO Max’s Full Bloom, will lead the workshop. Tickets are available for $200.

If you’re looking for something different, check out Ujamaafest, an annual Kwanzaa festival with workshops, interactive activities, and cultural performances. Tickets range from $20-$85. Additionally, E.M.B.A.R.C. Lantern Festival and Parade at EMBARC Community Youth Farm offers a festive celebration with a s’mores station, campfire cooking, and a Lantern Parade through the park for free.

From now until December 23rd, Lawrenceville Arts Center will be hosting the Festival of Trees, showcasing trees decorated by local businesses. Visitors can vote for their favorite tree by leaving unwrapped toys and non-perishable goods under it, all for free.

Looking ahead to December 23rd to January 1st, Gwinnett Winter Lantern Festival at Gwinnett County Fairgrounds will feature over 1000 Chinese lanterns handmade by artisans, along with live entertainment, food, drinks, and gifts. Tickets for this event range from $16.99 to $55.

Stone Mountain Christmas at Stone Mountain Park, running until January 5th, transforms the park into a holiday wonderland each night with millions of lights, festive music, shows, and visits from holiday characters. Tickets for this event range from $34.99 to $49.99. Similarly, Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Over Georgia offers a festive experience with food, shows, North Pole visits, and family fun, with tickets starting at $25.

Looking ahead to January 25th, the Atlanta Winter Wine Festival at Guardian Works will offer samples of over 50 wines, music by DJ QTip, and a free souvenir glass. Tickets for this event start at $40. And mark your calendars for February 2nd, when the Year of the Snake – Decatur Lunar New Year at Ebster Recreation Center will celebrate customs from Vietnam, South Korea, China, Thailand, Japan, and the Philippines.

Finally, on February 22nd, the Beer, Bourbon, and BBQ Festival at Atlantic Station will offer smoked meat, over 40 bourbons, bluegrass music, and more. Tickets range from $45-$1,950. There’s something for everyone to enjoy at these upcoming events in Atlanta!
