Dexter: Original Sin’ Prequel Series Brings Back Dexter for Showtime

Are you ready for a blast from the past with a killer twist? “Dexter: Original Sin” is Showtime’s latest prequel series that takes us back to 1990s Miami to see Dexter Morgan’s earlier years. Played by Patrick Gibson, we get to witness the young Dexter as he rises to become the infamous serial killing vigilante we all know and love.

The star-studded cast includes Christian Slater as Dexter’s father, Harry, and Patrick Dempsey as the captain of the Miami Metro Homicide Department. And if that’s not exciting enough, Sarah Michelle Gellar from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” joins the crew as Dexter’s first boss, Tanya Martin, the chief of forensics.

Creator Clyde Phillips promises a trip down memory lane with all the 90s-era props, fashion, and technology. From oversized computers to wall phones, the attention to detail brings the decade to life on screen. And with a soundtrack to match, the nostalgia factor is through the roof.

But don’t worry about retreading old ground – Phillips ensures us that there will be plenty of new storylines to explore. Starting with Dexter’s birth and the events leading up to his dark path, the prequel series delves into untold origins. And if you’re already intrigued, get ready for “Dexter: Resurrection,” a new sequel series set to air in the summer of 2025.

So mark your calendars and grab your popcorn because “Dexter: Original Sin” is set to premiere on Paramount+ this Friday, Dec. 13. Don’t miss out on this thrilling journey into the mind of everyone’s favorite serial killer.
