A Calgarian tattoo artist has taken the crown in the most recent season of the American reality competition show Ink Master. It was an intense season with 16 talented tattoo artists vying for a cash prize of US$250,000. This is no small feat!

The winner of Season 16 is none other than local tattoo artist James Tex. James, who is 50 years old, owns Deadly Tattoos in southwest Calgary. He’s been in the tattooing game for an impressive 26 years! Talk about experience.

But here’s the kicker – James wasn’t the only artist from Deadly Tattoos competing in the show. His son was also a contestant! How cool is that? Family competition at its finest.

The premise of this season was interesting. The artists were split into two teams: The OGs, who are seasoned tattoo veterans with over a decade of experience, and the Young Guns, who had less than 10 years under their belt. James Tex shared with CTV News that having his son by his side during the competition was a true blessing. He found comfort in having a little support system in such a high-stakes environment.
