South Birdneck Road Gas Leak Closure: Reopening After Several Hours
In Virginia Beach, the Virginia Beach Fire Department responded to an active gas leak on South Birdneck Road and Jensen Drive around 4 p.m. Due to safety concerns, the fire department closed off a stretch of South Birdneck Road, from Burford Avenue to Beautiful Street, while Virginia Natural Gas worked to address the leak.
Thankfully, by 8:50 p.m., the northbound lanes of South Birdneck Road were reopened, with one southbound lane expected to follow suit shortly after. Thankfully, there were no reported evacuations or injuries during the incident.
