Wolfs 2 Sequel Cancelled as Director Loses Trust in Apple TV+
Jon Watts has recently shared some disappointing news for fans of the movie “Wolfs.” Directed by Watts and starring big names like Brad Pitt and George Clooney, the film quickly gained popularity on Apple TV+ after a brief run in theaters. Despite initial plans for a sequel, Watts revealed to Collider that “Wolfs 2″ may not see the light of day.
In a candid interview with Deadline, Watts explained that his decision to step away from the sequel was due to a loss of trust in Apple TV+. He described how the studio’s sudden shift from a promised theatrical release to a streaming debut took him by surprise and left him feeling unsettled. Watts emphasized that Apple’s decision to announce a sequel without his consent contributed to his ultimate choice to walk away from the project.
In his own words, Watts shared, “I showed Apple my final cut of Wolfs early this year, They were extremely enthusiastic about it and immediately commissioned me to start writing a sequel. But their last minute shift from a promised wide theatrical release to a streaming release was a total surprise and made without any explanation or discussion.” Despite his disappointment, Watts expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with the talented cast and crew of the original film.
For now, “Wolfs” continues to stream on Apple TV+, offering viewers the chance to enjoy the star-studded thriller at their convenience. Although the future of a sequel remains uncertain, fans can still appreciate the first installment and the creative efforts that brought it to life.
