Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, a documentary by filmmakers Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, is making its debut on HBO and Max. This award-winning film, which recently scooped up six Critics Choice Documentary Awards, including Best Documentary Feature, will be premiering on HBO at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Saturday, December 7, and will be available for streaming on Max.

After a successful run in theaters starting from October 11, Super/Man dives into the life of the late Superman star, Christopher Reeve, after a life-changing accident. The documentary explores how Reeve used his fame as a platform to spread hope and alter our perceptions of paralysis. It focuses on his roles as an activist, actor, filmmaker, father, and husband to Dana Reeve, showcasing how he never let his physical limitations define him.

Following the tragic horseback riding accident in 1995 that left Reeve paralyzed from the neck down, the documentary utilizes Reeve’s own words, along with insights from his closest family and friends, to provide an intimate look at his life. It paints a vivid portrait of a man who shattered stereotypes and proved that true heroism doesn’t require a cape.
