‘Twisters’ Announces Premiere Date on Peacock – Deadline
Universal Pictures’ "Twisters," the sequel to the classic disaster film "Twister," has made a successful transition to the streaming world, set to be exclusively available on Peacock starting November 15. The film, directed by Lee Isaac Chung and starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, has garnered over $370 million at the global box office.
The story of "Twisters" revolves around Kate, played by Edgar-Jones, who, after a traumatic tornado experience, abandons storm chasing in Oklahoma to study storms safely from New York City screens. However, she is drawn back to the field by her friend Javi, portrayed by Anthony Ramos, and a unique scientific opportunity. In her journey, she meets Tyler, played by Powell, a fearless tornado enthusiast known for his daring storm-chasing adventures that have made him a social media sensation. As they encounter unprecedented and dangerous tornado occurrences during storm season, Kate and Tyler realize that they must collaborate to survive and control the destructive tornados.
Executive produced by industry giants Steven Spielberg, Thomas Hayslip, and Ashley Jay Sandberg, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast including Brandon Perea, David Corenswet, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, and more. The production team, led by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, worked on bringing Mark L. Smith’s script to life, which was inspired by a story from Joseph Kosinski, known for "Top Gun: Maverick," and characters created by Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin. "Twisters" initially premiered in theaters through Universal Pictures on July 19.
The film’s transition to Peacock signifies a new chapter for "Twisters" as it reaches a broader audience through the streaming platform. With its thrilling storyline, talented cast, and impressive production team, "Twisters" promises to captivate viewers with its high-stakes tornado adventures and the evolving dynamics between Kate and Tyler as they navigate the treacherous storm season.
