Westworld Movie Sequel Coming Soon

Warner Bros. isn’t letting fans stream the hit TV show Westworld, but they’re diving back into the park in a major way. David Koepp, the screenwriter behind Jurassic Park, is currently penning a new film adaptation of Westworld, the brainchild of Michael Crichton.

Crichton first brought Westworld to life in 1973 as a film set in a western-themed park where people could realize their wildest fantasies. Fast forward to 2016, when HBO turned it into a fan-favorite show that ran for four seasons. I hate to break it to you, but that show isn’t available for streaming on HBO Max anymore. However, Deadline reports that a big-name filmmaker is eyeing this new adaptation.

While the specifics on how this new Westworld will tie into the original movie or TV series remain uncertain, my bet is on a fresh perspective rather than a simple sequel. The collaboration between Koepp, the mastermind behind scripts like Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible, and Spider-Man, and the brilliance of Crichton’s creation is exciting. But, it brings back the sting of HBO axing the mesmerizing sci-fi series before giving it a proper ending, wiping it clean from its streaming platform. Perhaps this new venture will breathe new life into the franchise and get the show back on streaming, allowing us to relive its wild twists and unresolved mysteries. (For now, you can snag the show on Blu-ray or digital formats.)

We’ll keep you updated on all things Westworld the movie, so stay tuned. Are you thrilled to see the franchise making a comeback, or does the bitter taste of the show’s abrupt end still linger?
