Netflix rumored to be considering four NFL games, including Thanksgiving Eve matchup
Netflix is no stranger to football, having locked in the rights to stream two NFL games on Christmas Day. And now, the streaming giant is eyeing an upgrade to its football lineup, aiming to bag a deal that would bring four NFL games to its platform.
Rumors have it that Netflix is especially keen on adding the NFL’s Thanksgiving Eve game and an international match to its roster. Exciting stuff, right? But Netflix isn’t the only player in this game. Google’s YouTube and Amazon, known for their Thursday Night Football broadcasts, are also looking to up their game by adding more matches to their schedule.
The NFL is in the process of negotiating new media deals with all its partners, with the goal of creating smaller game packages for streaming platforms to jump on. Word on the street is that these deals will be sealed before the start of the upcoming season in September and will run until 2033 or 2034.
But hang on, there’s more. The NFL is apparently working on separate game packages for Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube. It’s all about expanding the league’s global footprint, and who better to partner with than YouTube and Netflix, which boast a worldwide audience?
As thrilling as it sounds, Netflix might want to brush up on its advertising game. Reports suggest that commercials during the Christmas Day NFL games didn’t quite hit their target audience as promised. Oops! But with the NFL’s popularity soaring, adding more games to Netflix’s lineup seems like a win-win for everyone involved. Can’t wait to see how this plays out!
