Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Announces Conclusion After Two Seasons on Paramount+

After two seasons, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is coming to a close on Paramount+. According to a joint statement by CBS Studios and Paramount+ to Variety, the show has been a source of pride for its ambition, creativity, and innovation in expanding the Star Trek universe. The series showcased a fresh group of characters, while also featuring some familiar faces, all while staying true to Gene Roddenberry’s vision.

The show follows a group of young cadets striving towards shared aspirations of hope and optimism at Starfleet Academy. As they face the challenges and trials of training to become Starfleet officers, they grapple with building friendships, intense rivalries, first loves, and a new menacing threat to the Academy and the Federation. Season 2 recently concluded production, but no official release date has been announced for its premiere.

In the series, Holly Hunter takes on the role of Nahla Ake, the Chancellor of Starfleet Academy and Captain of the U.S.S. Athena, a character who is a rare half-Lanthanite. The ensemble cast includes Paul Giamatti, Oded Fehr, and Tig Notaro alongside Hunter.
