‘Marshals Premiere Week Breaks TV Records’
The series premiere of Marshals was a huge hit, drawing in more than 20 million viewers within seven days after its March 1 debut, making it the most-watched show across all platforms that week.
This Yellowstone spinoff, which was quickly renewed for a second season by CBS, attracted 20.6 million viewers in the United States over the course of a week, according to Nielsen’s multi-platform ratings for the week of Feb. 23-March 1. This number more than doubled its initial 9.52 million viewers from the on-air broadcast and surpassed any other series by 6 million viewers that same week. The majority of the additional 11.08 million viewers who caught Marshals after its CBS premiere likely watched it on Paramount+.
In the top 20 list, network shows dominated, with only two streaming shows, Netflix’s Bridgerton and HBO Max’s The Pitt, making the cut. This is because the list only counted shows that aired new episodes that specific week. It’s possible that a show like The Night Agent, a popular Netflix series, also drew a large audience in that time frame, but it premiered its full season on Feb. 19, so it wasn’t included in this ranking.
February’s final week didn’t see many new streaming releases, so that may have contributed to network series taking the lead in viewership numbers.
