New Noir Series: Slow Horses Favorite Actor Joined by Oscar-Winning Actor
Last year, Apple TV announced a new drama based on Philip Kerr’s Berlin Noir novels, with Jack Lowden from Slow Horses set to star. After a period of silence, we finally have some exciting news – Oscar winner Colin Firth will be joining Lowden in the cast.
In the series, Firth will play Paul Lohser, a meticulous and anti-social murder detective with the Berlin Police. He’s described as brilliant but prickly, the complete opposite of Lowden’s character Bernie. Bernie is a newly promoted officer in the elite Berlin Murder Squad, investigating a serial killer targeting society’s fringes in 1928. To solve the case, Bernie and Paul must team up.
The Berlin Noir book series consists of 14 novels, with the latest released in 2019, offering plenty of material for the show. Produced by Bad Wolf and PlayTone, the series is written by Peter Straughan and directed by Tom Shankland, with filming currently in progress.
Firth is known for his roles in acclaimed films like Bridget Jones’s Diary, Love Actually, and The King’s Speech. He will also be appearing in upcoming projects like Prime Video series Young Sherlock and Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day.
The Berlin Noir adaptation will air on Apple TV, so make sure to sign up now to catch all the action. And for more TV recommendations and reviews, don’t forget to listen to The Radio Times Podcast.
