First Time Watching “Lord of the Rings” and Embracing Hobbit Culture
My recent journey into the world of Tolkien has left me hobbit-pilled, and I’m here to share my newfound appreciation for “The Lord of the Rings” with you. For years, I held out on reading the books or watching the films, but a recent snowstorm led me to finally give Peter Jackson’s “The Fellowship of the Ring” a shot. And you know what? It’s actually a pretty good movie.
While I may not be rushing to dive into “The Silmarillion” anytime soon, I can’t deny the emotional impact of the story. One of the standout characters for me was Galadriel – played by the brilliant Cate Blanchett. I was pleasantly surprised by her complex and captivating portrayal, transcending the typical ethereal elf stereotype. Her moments on screen were truly memorable and made me wish for more drag performances inspired by her character.
Sam and Frodo’s friendship also tugged at my heartstrings, showcasing a deep and genuine bond that is truly touching. And while the characters in the film are undeniably beautiful, I couldn’t quite find a crush among them. Despite their attractiveness, there was a lack of that special spark that gets the heart racing.
The themes of collective action and found family in the film struck a chord with me, particularly in these challenging times. One powerful dialogue exchange between Frodo and Gandalf left me feeling hopeful and inspired, reminding me of the importance of making the most of the time we have.
So, if you’re thinking of revisiting “The Fellowship of the Ring” or diving into the world of Middle-earth for the first time, I say go for it. You might just find yourself as ring-pilled as I am now.
