Stranger Things Season Surges in Final Week of 2025 Streaming Ratings
Stranger Things is breaking records left and right! The final season premiere of the show scored the largest single week streaming viewing total ever, but that’s just the beginning. The show had the third-largest week of all time with the release of more episodes on Christmas. For the week of December 22-28, the Netflix hit recorded a whopping 6.89 billion minutes of viewing. That’s insane!
In the five-year history of Nielsen’s streaming rankings, only two other weeks have seen more viewers tuning in, and both of those are also owned by Stranger Things. The season five premiere week in late November holds the top spot with 8.46 billion minutes, while the second week of season four in late May and early June 2022 saw 7.2 billion minutes. It’s clear that fans just can’t get enough of the Upside Down adventures of Eleven and the gang.
From the final season premiere through December 28, Stranger Things racked up over 25 billion viewing minutes in the United States. That’s enough to make it the top original streaming series of the year and land it in the top seven among all titles for 2025. It’s safe to say that Stranger Things is still a force to be reckoned with in the world of streaming entertainment.
Not to be outdone, Apple TV’s Pluribus also had its moment in the sun, setting a new high of 483 million minutes of watch time for the week of its first season finale. It looks like both shows are giving fans plenty to talk about and binge-watch during the holidays!
