Cobie Smulders on Returning as Robin in How I Met Your Father
an appearance in the short-lived spin-off, as Neil Patrick Harris returned as Barney Stinson in the second season. Sadly, Hulu canceled “How I Met Your Father” after two seasons, robbing fans of the opportunity to see them in action again. But there is a silver lining as Smulders is open to reprising her role as Robin in the future if the opportunity arises.
When it comes to the idea of a “How I Met Your Mother” revival, Smulders has mixed feelings. While she appreciates the nine seasons the show had and the time she spent with her co-stars, she doesn’t want to see the show brought back just for the sake of nostalgia. However, she is not shutting down the possibility either, depending on the circumstances.
“I am not in conversations with anyone about [a revival],” Smulders shared with The Hollywood Reporter. “The way I feel about it is, we got to do this for nine years. I feel like asking for anything more than that is like asking for too much.” But the actress is open to the idea of reuniting with the cast if the opportunity presents itself and if there is genuine interest.
With the recent cancellation of “How I Met Your Father,” the future of these characters remains uncertain. However, fans can hold onto hope that someday, the gang from “How I Met Your Mother” could reunite for new adventures. Time will tell if this beloved group will grace our screens once again.
