Sony and Netflix to Continue as Streaming Partners

Over the past few years, Netflix has landed Sony movies after they finish their theater runs, offering exclusive titles like Fixed and KPop Demon Hunters. Sony appears to be cozying up to the streaming giant for the rest of the decade and beyond. The recent multi-year deal between the companies ensures that Netflix will continue to stream Sony movies once they’re done with theaters and video on demand. This deal might come at a hefty cost; sources shared with Variety that it’s valued at over $7 billion, more than double the 2021 domestic rights deal at $2.5 billion. Executives from Sony and Netflix have praised the partnership, with Sony’s executive VP, Paul Littmann, drawing attention to the popularity of films like Uncharted and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on the streaming service.
