Pablo and Juan De Dios Larraín Launch New Indie Film Streaming Platform

Pablo Larraín and his producing partner, Juan De Dios Larraín, recently launched a new streaming platform called Pijama. Designed for independent and undistributed films, Pijama is a TVOD platform that allows filmmakers and producers to directly upload their films, select release territories, set pricing, and run digital marketing campaigns.

According to Pablo Larraín, who is best known for directing films like “Jackie,” “Spencer,” and “Maria,” there is a massive frustration in the film industry because the majority of movies, around 80-90%, don’t have distribution. Pijama aims to address this issue by providing filmmakers access to a platform where they can share their work with audiences worldwide.

For a flat fee of $100, filmmakers can upload, encode, store, and stream their films for two years. Rental pricing can be set between $3.99 and $9.99, offering viewers a 72-hour viewing window within 30 days. The platform also ensures that 80% of revenue goes directly to producers, sales agents, and distributors after transactional costs and taxes are deducted.

Pablo Larraín emphasizes that not all films can be bought by traditional streamers, making platforms like Pijama crucial for showcasing a wider range of movies from different regions. The goal is to provide a platform where filmmakers can share their stories with audiences around the world.
