Netflix experienced another crash as fans eagerly tuned in to watch the premiere of the Stranger Things Season 5 finale on New Year’s Eve. At 5 p.m. PT, as viewers were ready to watch the last episode titled “Chapter Eight: The Rightside Up,” the streaming service briefly went down. Many fans trying to play the finale were met with error messages like “Something went wrong. Sorry, we’re having trouble with your request. You’ll find lots to explore on the home page.”
Fans were quick to take to social media to express their frustrations. One viewer tweeted, “Waking up since 2 am just to watch Netflix crash unreal craze stranger Things finale,” while another wrote, “NETFLIX CRASH JUST AS IT HITS 1AM OFC IT F**KING DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID.” This crash wasn’t a one-time event, as Netflix also experienced problems on November 26th when Season 5, Volume 1 was released. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter at that time, the streaming platform acknowledged that some members had briefly experienced technical issues.
