Peacock Launches Arrival Ads on Login Screen
Peacock is rolling out a new way for brands to advertise on the platform by introducing Arrival Ads on the profile selection page. This format gives advertisers prime real estate to capture users’ attention even before they choose a profile, making it a premium advertising opportunity.
Arrival Ads are designed to be high-impact and interactive, reaching nearly all daily active users on connected TV. This means that brands have the chance to create a memorable experience for users right from the start. The format features a large canvas on the right side of the screen, with user profiles displayed on the left side.
Currently, Peacock’s ad-supported Premium tier costs $10.99 a month, while the ad-free plan is priced at $16.99 a month. For users who prefer not to see ads, the Arrival Ads could prompt them to switch to the ad-free plan for an additional $6 per month.
Like other streaming platforms, Peacock is looking to boost ad revenue and margins. With the introduction of Arrival Ads, Peacock is following a playbook seen across major streamers, including growing Pause Ads and utilizing AI-driven Contextual Targeting.
Viewers can expect to see these Arrival Ads on the profile screen, offering a visual unit that might be static or have minimal interaction. The goal is to seamlessly integrate these ads without disrupting the viewing experience. However, the impact of these ads on the overall user experience remains to be seen.
Login screens offer brands guaranteed exposure, making them valuable real estate for advertising. Peacock is focusing on ensuring that the ads are relevant and enhance the viewing experience, particularly during live events like sports and news. By offering a high-impact ad at the login screen, Peacock is betting on increasing ad revenue without compromising user experience.
