Things are Going Well for Robby Hoffman: A Positive Update
This past year might not have been the best for everyone, but for Robby Hoffman, 2025 was a pretty good one. Having transitioned from writing for kids shows only a few years back, she kicked off the year by tying the knot in January, followed by a scene-stealing performance in several episodes of “Hacks” by April. Along the way, she landed some exciting new roles, snagged an Emmy nod, and, to top it all off, she’s set to wrap up the year with her very first full-length Netflix special on December 14.
Robby’s Netflix special, “Wake Up,” directed by none other than John Mulaney, showcases her delightful, upbeat comedic style while also delving into some much-needed venting. During a recent appearance on The Hollywood Reporter podcast, Robby confided, “It’s a way going to the gym for me. For me to complain is to enjoy, to understand. It’s a catharsis. If I’m yelling at you, I’m thrilled. I’m happy to be talking to you.”
Asked about her comedic beginnings, Robby reflects with a smile, “I was always funny, but so was everyone.” Growing up in a family where humor was never in short supply, humor was a tool they used to navigate hardships and tough times. Her mother, in her own struggles and the family’s financial struggles, managed to infuse even the darkest moments with humor, creating a space where laughter reigned supreme.
