Former COO Jeff Williams Nominated for Disney Board after Exiting Apple

Jeff Williams, the former Chief Operating Officer of Apple, wasted no time finding his next venture after retiring. He has been nominated to join Disney’s board of directors.

After handing off his role as COO of Apple to Sabih Khan earlier this year, Williams officially retired from the tech giant last month. Now, Variety has reported that Disney has decided to add Jeff Williams to its board.

Williams will stand for election as a new independent director of Disney at the company’s 2026 annual meeting of shareholders. This nomination expands Disney’s board to include 11 members, effective immediately upon the election of directors at the 2026 annual meeting.

In a statement provided by Disney, Jeff Williams expressed his admiration for Disney’s legacy of combining imagination with innovation. He is honored to be nominated to the board of such a storied company and looks forward to working with Disney’s talented leadership team.

It’s worth noting that Disney CEO Bob Iger previously held a seat on Apple’s board but stepped down following the launch of Apple TV+ in 2019. At that time, Disney was gearing up to introduce its own streaming video service, Disney+.

With Williams joining Disney’s board, it highlights the continued convergence of technology and entertainment industries. Williams’ experience at Apple could bring valuable insights to Disney as they navigate the evolving landscape of streaming services.
