Cincinnati Bengals suffer fourth consecutive defeat against New England Patriots
The Cincinnati Bengals lost to the New England Patriots with a final score of 26-20 at Paycor Stadium on Sunday. Despite a valiant effort by Joe Flacco and the Bengals’ offense towards the end, they couldn’t secure a win. The loss has brought their season record to a disappointing 3-8, putting their playoff hopes out of reach. On a positive note, the Bengals’ defense held strong against the Patriots, thwarting what looked like certain touchdown drives. In a thrilling moment, Geno Stone intercepted a pass from Drake Maye and scored a pick-six early in the game, dashing 33 yards to the end zone.
Joe Flacco suffered an interception that turned into a pick-six for the Patriots when Marcus Jones made an interception. Despite the setback, Flacco managed to connect with Mitchell Tinsley for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, keeping the Bengals in the game. Unfortunately, wide receiver Tee Higgins was sidelined due to a concussion after a hard fall while trying to make a catch. He went off the field in a stretcher and is now in concussion protocol, likely missing the upcoming Thanksgiving game.
Kicker Evan McPherson set a new franchise record with a stellar 63-yard field goal just before halftime, impressively surpassing his own previous record of 59 yards. Star quarterback Joe Burrow and receiver Ja’Marr Chase were both absent from the game, with Burrow recovering from an injury and Chase serving a one-game suspension for his actions in a game against Pittsburgh.
Despite the defeat, head coach Zac Taylor praised the team’s resilience and fighting spirit. He emphasized that while losses are disheartening, the team’s efforts will eventually pay off. The Bengals are gearing up to face the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving Day. Stay tuned for more Bengals news and updates.
