Disney YouTube deal brings TV channels back to streaming platform
Disney and YouTube recently announced an exciting deal to bring back popular TV channels to the YouTube TV streaming platform. This agreement comes after a brief period when ABC, ESPN, and other channels were removed due to negotiations falling through. Luckily, the new deal is a “multi-year distribution agreement,” according to Disney.
The Disney Entertainment Co-Chairmen and ESPN Chairman expressed their delight, saying, “It recognizes the tremendous value of Disney’s programming and provides YouTube TV subscribers with more flexibility and choice.” This means that fans can once again enjoy a variety of great programming options, including college football, this weekend.
For YouTube TV subscribers, the channels are already starting to make a comeback. This new agreement also allows for Disney+ and Hulu Bundle content to be shared on the platform, so there’s even more to look forward to.
YouTube, owned by Google company Alphabet, explained that the blackout was due to an impasse in talks, with Disney choosing to pull channels until an agreement was reached. However, both parties have now come to a resolution, much to the relief of customers. The return of channels and recordings should happen within 24 hours, YouTube assured.
Last month, YouTube had promised a $20 credit to subscribers if Disney content was unavailable for an extended period. YouTube TV’s base subscription plan costs $82.99 per month, making it a popular choice for over 9 million subscribers. Hulu, also owned by Disney, comes in second with about half as many subscribers.
Overall, this new deal between Disney and YouTube means that viewers can once again enjoy their favorite shows and sports content without any disruptions. Thank you for your patience as both companies worked together to make this happen.
