Stellan Skarsgård shares son’s school bullying ordeal

Stellan Skarsgård recently opened up about the challenges his youngest son faces at school, where he is bullied and called a “nepo baby” by some kids. The actor, known for his work in films like Mamma Mia, shared that his son, Kolbjörn, who is just 13 years old, often feels isolated and sad because of this cruel behavior from his peers.

In a candid interview, Skarsgård revealed that while some may consider his children to be “nepo babies” due to their family’s acting background, he sees himself as a “nepo daddy” who benefits from goodwill but does not actively recommend his children for roles. Six of his eight children have pursued acting, including Alexander, Gustaf, and Bill Skarsgård, who have made names for themselves in the industry.

Despite the successes of his children, Skarsgård emphasized that the casting decisions are based on talent and skill, not merely family connections. He highlighted the unfairness of labeling his son as a “nepo baby” when in reality, skill is what matters most in the industry.

Kolbjörn, who is currently acting in the Swedish TV show Blood Cruise, made his debut in 2022 in the Netflix series Clark. Skarsgård expressed pride in his children’s achievements and noted that his biggest fear has always been that they would be “boring,” which fortunately has not been the case.

The actor also discussed the challenges he has faced since suffering a stroke three years ago, which has affected his language and ability to engage in discussions. Despite these difficulties, Skarsgård remains determined and continues to pursue his passion for acting, utilizing new technology to assist him on set.

In conclusion, Skarsgård emphasized the importance of respect based on merit rather than familial relationships. He highlighted his strong bond with his children and his belief that respect should be earned through actions and achievements rather than simply being a parent.
