Millions Cancel Disney+ and Hulu Subscriptions Due to Kimmel Suspension

Disney+ and Hulu saw a significant drop in subscribers during September after suspending Jimmy Kimmel, according to a report from the New York Times and subscription research firm, Antenna. Following Kimmel’s suspension on September 17, around three million Americans canceled their Disney+ subscriptions and 4.1 million cancelled Hulu in the U.S. The New York Times noted that these cancellations were much higher than usual for both services.

On a more positive note, Disney+ gained 2.2 million new subscriptions, representing a 10% increase from August, while Hulu acquired 2.1 million new subscribers, a 5% increase. Currently, roughly 128 million people subscribe to Disney+ worldwide, with approximately 183 million subscribing to Disney+ and Hulu combined.

After a brief hiatus, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” returned to ABC on September 23. The situation is certainly interesting to follow, and we will keep you updated on any further developments.
