Apple TV+ Postpones Thriller Starring Jessica Chastain Based on Secretive ADL Unit

Apple TV+ has announced a delay in the release of “The Savant,” a series featuring Jessica Chastain that sheds light on a secretive division of the Anti-Defamation League responsible for infiltrating online hate groups to prevent real-world violence.

The show, originally scheduled to start streaming this Friday, has been put on hold with no official reason given. However, according to a report from The New York Times, the decision to postpone the premiere came in light of the recent assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk and the tense political climate that ensued.

The unfortunate assassination coincided with a school shooting in Colorado, allegedly carried out by an individual whose online behavior had been flagged by an ADL extremism monitor. This tragedy comes amid challenges in funding for extremism monitoring efforts.

Starring Jessica Chastain, “The Savant” features a character inspired by an anonymous ADL investigator known as K, who was previously profiled in Cosmopolitan magazine. The series promises a deep dive into the covert world of anti-extremism efforts, offering viewers a unique perspective on the fight against online hate groups.
