Man Accused of Killing and Eating Pet Peacocks in Neighbor Dispute

The owner, Craig Vogt, allegedly threatened to kill the birds if his neighbor continued to feed them. Unfortunately, he followed through on his threat, leading to a disturbing discovery in his neighbor’s mailbox.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the situation and found a letter detailing how Vogt had killed two peacocks, describing the gruesome act of cutting their heads off and preparing them for dinner. When confronted, Vogt admitted to the crime, citing ongoing tension with his neighbor as the motivation.
As a result, Vogt was arrested on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals with excessive pain/death. He was held on a $25,000 bond and assigned a public defender. Despite the serious nature of the charges, Vogt has not been able to bond out of the Pasco County Jail at this time.
