KPop Demon Hunters Clinch Top Spot in Streaming Ratings

During the summer, Netflix’s ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ made its mark with record-setting success in pop culture. However, it recently reached a new milestone by claiming the No. 1 overall spot on Nielsen’s streaming charts in the final week of August. This achievement came with a viewing total of 1.12 billion minutes, making it the movie’s highest weekly viewing numbers in the United States so far. Impressively, this marked the film’s 11th consecutive appearance in the Nielsen rankings, further solidifying its status as a standout among streaming original films.

As ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ took the lead, another notable contender, ‘The Thursday Murder Club,’ secured the second-place spot with 1.03 billion viewing minutes during the same period. Netflix’s YA series ‘My Life With the Walter Boys’ followed closely behind with 987 million viewing minutes in the week of its season two premiere.

Previously holding the top spot for three consecutive weeks, ‘Wednesday’ dropped to fifth place with 870 million minutes as Netflix unveiled the second half of the season on Sept. 3. However, it’s expected to climb back up the rankings in the next assessment. Additionally, Netflix maintained a strong presence in the top rankings with ‘Katrina: Come Hell or High Water’ taking the fourth spot with 911 million minutes.

Other notable mentions in the overall top 10 included Prime Video’s ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ with 717 million minutes of watch time as it progressed towards the conclusion of its third season. Marvel’s film ‘Thunderbolts’ also made its mark in the overall rankings with 702 million viewing minutes during the week of its streaming debut.
