Netflix Games: Latest Updates and News
Netflix Games has been buzzing with excitement since Alain Tascan took over as boss in July 2024. He promised a new wave of party and kids games, as well as games based on Netflix IP, to be released this year. Tascan even hinted at “big-screen” games and some surprising launches in the pipeline. There were talks of Netflix entering the social gaming space alongside Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft.
While there was much anticipation, the actual releases have been relatively quiet. After launching World of Peppa Pig and Black Mirror tie-in game Thronglets in April, Netflix only introduced two more games. Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game and Underwatermelon: Fruit Merge were the latest additions, with the former amassing around 230k downloads and the latter gaining about 166k installs.
Currently, Netflix has a live game catalog of around 100 games, a fraction of Apple Arcade’s 200ish games. While the public may see a lull in new game releases, behind the scenes, Netflix is actively hiring for its games team, with job postings reflecting competitive salaries. The company seems to be gearing up for the long game, despite declining to comment on its future plans.
