Charlie Hunnam Talks Potential Sons of Anarchy Reboot
Few TV roles can shape an actor’s career like Charlie Hunnam’s portrayal of Jax Teller in “Sons of Anarchy.” Hunnam took on this unforgettable character for seven seasons, evolving from a relatively unknown performer to the face of a top-rated cable TV show.
After the series concluded in 2014, saying goodbye to Jax was no easy task for Hunnam. In 2017, while promoting “King Arthur,” he confessed to Cinema Blend that it took time to separate himself from the character. To cope with this departure, he even found himself making excuses to visit the set after filming ended, reflecting on this as a healing process akin to grief.
Looking back in 2020, Hunnam told People that “Sons of Anarchy” wasn’t just a show, it was a learning experience that boosted his self-assurance in acting. Despite feeling inexperienced when he started, he described his seven years on set as a crash course in acting, where he transformed himself from a novice into a seasoned professional.
For years, Hunnam adamantly declared that Jax Teller’s story had concluded and that he wouldn’t revisit the character. Even when asked about making a cameo on “Mayans MC,” he declined, citing a deep emotional connection to the role that took time to mourn after the show wrapped.
However, as of 2023, Hunnam appears to be reconsidering his stance. In an interview with Access Hollywood, he hinted at a possible return to Jax Teller, indicating that he was exploring the idea with enthusiasm. While there are no concrete plans yet, Hunnam’s shift in perspective suggests that fans might see Jax back in action in the future.
Fans can catch all seven seasons of “Sons of Anarchy” on Hulu and can look forward to seeing Hunnam in “Monster: The Ed Gein Story,” set to premiere on Netflix on October 3, 2025.
