Netflix Unveils Stunning Images of Massive Jersey Shore Mega-Studio

Netflix has just released some exciting new images of its upcoming mega-studio at the Jersey Shore, giving us a detailed sneak peek at what the final production complex will look like. The studio, located on 289 acres of the former Fort Monmouth U.S. Army base, will stretch between Oceanport and Eatontown near Route 35.

In a video shared by Netflix, we get to see artist’s renderings of the planned buildings, showcasing the sheer size and scope of this impressive project. The complex begins in Eatontown on the west side of the campus and extends all the way into Oceanport.

Upon completion, this Hollywood-style studio will boast 12 soundstages totaling nearly 500,000 square feet, along with production and office buildings, a cafeteria, retail shops, trailer parks for crews, a theater, hotel, and various visitor attractions.

Netflix swooped in and acquired the Fort Monmouth property back in 2021 with a hefty $55 million bid, a decade after the military base was closed by the government. The demolition of the fort kicked off in May, with construction set to begin next year and anticipated to wrap up by 2028.

Both the Oceanport and Eatontown planning boards have given the green light to Netflix’s multi-phase development plans, setting the stage for this exciting redevelopment. The first phase will focus on transforming Fort Monmouth’s 29-acre McAfee Zone into a bustling campus for actors and production crews. This portion will include two 22,000-square-foot soundstages and twin soundstages totaling over 83,000 square feet, as well as offices, support space, a warehouse, and a mill building.

Phase 1B, the largest part of the project, will act as the campus’ main entrance and centerpiece. It will feature eight additional soundstages up to 70 feet tall, production offices, and a public plaza. This section, recently approved by Eatontown officials, will also include three mill buildings, support offices, and trailer camps.

While the Fort Monmouth studio campus will have limited public areas outside the secured perimeter, such as a plaza with Netflix’s iconic red “N,” a small park, a gathering space, and an extension of the Fort Monmouth trail with historic markers, the majority of the 289-acre site will remain closed to the public.

Governor Phil Murphy shared at the May groundbreaking ceremony that this project is anticipated to create over 3,500 construction jobs and employ about 1,400 individuals once operational. State officials estimate that over the next twenty years, the studio will bring in between $3.8 billion and $4.6 billion for New Jersey’s economy.

With its impressive scale and potential economic impact, Netflix’s Fort Monmouth studio is on track to become one of the company’s largest, rivaling its 300-acre complex in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
