Vernon Sanders Departs as Head of TV at Amazon MGM Studios
Vernon Sanders, the head of TV at Amazon MGM Studios, has announced that he will be leaving the company. In a note to staff, Sanders expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he had been given and his desire to return to the creative process of making television.
Throughout his time at Amazon Studios, Sanders has taken on increasingly challenging roles but feels that he has become disconnected from the creative aspects of the industry that originally drew him in. He made the decision earlier this summer to refocus on the creative side of television.
Sanders first joined Amazon Studios in 2018, coming from NBC to work with Jen Salke, who was leading the entertainment division at the time. Since then, both Salke and Sanders have moved on from their roles at Amazon MGM Studios.
His departure also follows recent changes in leadership at Amazon, with Mike Hopkins reshaping the entertainment businesses. Jay Marine has been promoted to oversee Prime Video in the U.S., and Albert Cheng will now focus on AI tools and services for the division.
Sanders will be missed by his colleagues at Amazon, and they wish him the best in his future endeavors.
