Rebel Ridge Wins Best TV Movie at 2025 Creative Arts Emmys

Rebel Ridge took home the award for Outstanding Television Movie at the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys, beating out other strong contenders such as Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, The Gorge, Mountainhead, and Nonnas.

This gripping film, which became a hit on Netflix after its release in September 2024, tells the story of corrupt small-town cops facing off against a former Marine. Written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier, it stars Aaron Pierre, Don Johnson, and AnnaSophia Robb.

Set in the fictional town of Shelby Springs, Louisiana, Rebel Ridge was filmed in authentic locations in the state, with Pierre expressing his love for the city of New Orleans during the movie’s release. The Critics Choice Award for Best Movie Made for Television in February further solidified its success.

Other notable contenders in the category included Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the fourth installment in the romantic comedy franchise starring Renée Zellweger. Directed by Michael Morris and featuring a star-studded cast, this film follows Bridget as she navigates dating and work once again.

Apple TV+’s The Gorge, a sci-fi romantic drama starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller, brought a unique twist to the TV movie Emmy category. Meanwhile, Mountainhead, a satirical film from Succession creator Jesse Armstrong, and Netflix’s Nonnas, a heartwarming story about grandmothers working as chefs, also received nominations.

The 2025 Creative Arts Emmys were presented in Los Angeles on September 6 and 7, with the full show set to broadcast on September 13. This recognition of outstanding television movies showcases the diverse range of storytelling and talent within the industry.
