Streameast Sports Streaming Website Shut Down

One of the biggest sports piracy platforms, Streameast, has been shut down by the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), a group that includes NBC Universal, Netflix, and Disney. ACE collaborated with Egyptian authorities to take down the platform after a year-long investigation. The disruption of Streameast’s streaming infrastructure occurred during a sting operation on August 24th. Reports indicate that Streameast received over 1.6 billion visits across 80 domains in the past year, establishing it as the largest illegal live sports streaming operation globally.

Fans have noticed the outage, especially with the new soccer season in Europe kicking off. It’s worth noting that this news comes at the start of the NFL season as well. Despite the shutdown, some Streameast sites appear to still be active. ACE is looking into these remaining sites to determine if they are related or created by impersonators of Streameast.

The takedown of Streameast is a significant development in the fight against piracy and unauthorized streaming. It serves as a reminder to viewers about the risks associated with accessing content through illegal means. Stay tuned for updates as the situation continues to unfold.
