Apple TV+ Monthly Pricing Increases by 30% to $12.99
Apple TV+ subscribers will soon see a 30% increase in their monthly bill, as Apple has bumped up the price to $12.99 from the previous $9.99. The new rate goes into effect for new customers starting Thursday, and existing subscribers will see the change 30 days after their next renewal date.
For those who opt for the yearly subscription, the rate will remain constant at $99.99. Additionally, Apple is keeping the Apple One bundle price unchanged, starting at $19.95 per month.
This price adjustment follows a trend of gradual price increases for Apple TV+. Back in 2023, the monthly subscription went from $6.99 to $9.99. This latest hike is actually the third time Apple has raised its streaming service’s price since its launch in 2019 at $4.99 per month.
Interestingly, reports indicate that Apple is running at a loss of over $1 billion annually with its streaming service, separating it as the only unprofitable offering among Apple’s lineup. Despite earning numerous award nominations and wins, Apple TV+ still lags behind competitors like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video in subscriber numbers.
Recently, Apple garnered a whopping 81 Emmy Award nominations, with the hit show “Severance” leading as the most-nominated series of the year. These accolades showcase Apple’s commitment to quality content, even amidst the competitive landscape of streaming services.
As we continue to witness changes in the streaming industry, it’s clear that Apple is making strategic moves to remain competitive and provide value to its subscribers. The future of Apple TV+ is undoubtedly one to watch, as the platform continues to invest in top-tier content and creative partnerships.
